Xiaomi EV, the company’s automotive branch, has confirmed that the much-anticipated SU7 Ultra will officially launch on February 27. At 7:00 PM Beijing time, the unveiling ceremony is set to start.

Ultra-Performance Model from Xiaomi

On October 29, 2023, Xiaomi unveiled the SU7 Ultra, an ultra-high-performance version of the company’s first electric vehicle (EV). When the model was first put up for sale, it cost RMB 814,900 ($112,420). With the official introduction of this high-end EV scheduled for the next event, Xiaomi’s position in the automotive sector will be further cemented.

Launch Event for Dual Ultra

Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, will be released with the SU7 Ultra. According to Lei Jun, the company’s founder, chairman, and CEO, these two devices are the most expensive offers in Xiaomi’s 15-year history, making this a significant milestone for the business.

“Ultra represents the ultimate pursuit and pure aspiration. It embodies Xiaomi’s five-year journey towards high-end innovation and signifies the beginning of our march into the ultra-premium segment,” Lei Jun stated on Weibo.

Xiaomi’s Growth in the Electric Vehicle Industry

With over 135,000 units supplied last year, the ordinary SU7 model garnered remarkable sales results since its formal launch on March 28, 2024. But the price of the SU7 Ultra is far higher—nearly four times the RMB 215,900 beginning price of the regular SU7.

As Xiaomi EV stated on Weibo, the SU7 Ultra garnered high early demand despite its premium placement, receiving 3,680 pre-orders in the first 10 minutes of its pre-sale on October 29, 2023.

Xiaomi has set high goals for its car division’s sales. In 2024, the business wants to sell 10,000 SU7 Ultras. Furthermore, Xiaomi estimates that 300,000 EVs will be sold overall in the fiscal year 2025.

Future Releases of Xiaomi EVs

With the anticipated release of the YU7 electric SUV in June or July 2024, Xiaomi is getting ready to increase the number of electric vehicles in its lineup beyond the SU7 and SU7 Ultra. Xiaomi’s determination to establish itself as a major force in the cutthroat EV market is demonstrated by this action.

Xiaomi’s significant investments in the smartphone and electric vehicle industries are expected to reshape its brand identity and market positioning as it continues to push into the ultra-premium market.
