WhatsApp is Developing A New Method for Controlling Chat Animations

A tool to control autoplay animated images is being developed by the Meta-owned platform WhatsApp and will be made available to users in a later release.

The new feature attempts to give users more control over their chat experience by enabling them to turn off animations for emojis, stickers, and avatars straight from the app settings.

The app is looking into adding a new feature that will let users control specific animations in their groups and chats.

Compared to the prior functionality in development, this new feature gives you much more flexibility over which messages should animate.

This feature will allow users to manage emoji, sticker, and GIF animations independently using three different ways.

Users will find it simpler to customise their chat experience, and undesired animations will be less distracting.

When it comes to emojis, this is especially true for the recently added animated ones, which will look static if the autoplay feature is turned off.

In a similar vein, animated stickers will stop moving unless consumers engage with them.

The same idea also holds true for GIFs, which will stay static until the user plays them manually.

It will eventually be possible for users to control their animation choices straight from the app settings, giving them the ability to determine whether stickers, emojis, and GIFs should animate.
