The Axiom Mission 2 (Ax-2) is the second all-private astronaut mission to the International Space Station (ISS) and the first private space mission to be piloted by a woman. It will be launched on Axiom Space, NASA, and SpaceX.
Former NASA astronaut and current Director of Human Spaceflight at Axiom Space Peggy Whitson will lead the trip. Whitson is poised to create history once more, building on her impressive accomplishments as the first female captain of the International Space Station (ISS), the only woman to serve as ISS commander twice, and the first female, nonmilitary head of NASA’s Astronaut Office.
At 5:37 PM, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying the company’s Dragon spacecraft ‘Freedom’ is planned to launch from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in Florida.
Ax-2’s launch will be broadcast live on NASA Television, the NASA app, and the organization’s main website. Axiom Space and SpaceX will work together to provide live television coverage, which will start about 2:10 p.m.
