Cavaliers 128, Hornets 114: The Cleveland Cavaliers are just the fourth team in NBA history to start a season undefeated, continuing their incredible run. Cleveland won despite Donovan Mitchell thanks to impressive efforts from Ty Jerome, who tied his career highs with eight assists and 24 points, and Darius Garland.

With double-doubles from Evan Mobley (23 points, 11 rebounds) and Jarrett Allen (21 points, 15 rebounds), the Cavaliers demonstrated their depth and togetherness. After falling behind for just 17 seconds in the first quarter, Cleveland took control of the game and maintained pace throughout.

LaMelo Ball of Charlotte led all scorers with 31 points and 12 assists, keeping the Hornets close. The Hornets were within three points after a strong third quarter, but Cleveland rallied with a 26–15 victory in the closing minutes.

By matching the 15-0 starts of the 1993–94 Rockets, 1948–49 Capitols, and the 2015–16 Warriors—who now own the all-time best start at 24-0—the Cavaliers have joined the select group.

Tuesday will be the Cavaliers’ most difficult test to date. At 7 p.m., they will play the Boston Celtics, the reigning champions, in an NBA Cup match at the Emirates.
