Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan is getting ready for the premiere of The Buckingham Murders, her first feature film in which she also serves as producer. The teaser for the movie was released today; it is slated to open in theatres on September 13. Since its debut at the Jio MAMI Festival last year, the highly anticipated film, directed by Hansal Mehta, has been building. It’s finally ready for a theatre release after a protracted delay.
Jasmeet Bhamra is portrayed by Kareena in the recently released teaser. She excels as a heartbroken mother who is also a detective and on a mission to solve a murder case in Buckinghamshire, as seen in the captivating teaser. The teaser for the Hansal Mehta-directed crime drama has increased anticipation even further. The trailer implies that Kareena’s character takes to detective work as a coping mechanism for her grief following the terrible death of her child.
The two minutes and 34-second video offers a peek into a plot that is full with deceit as Kapoor looks for the truth. Kareena interrogates a number of individuals regarding their whereabouts on the evening of November 14 in the fascinating teaser. Following the death of a youngster, tensions in the already unstable community escalate, and the police end up detaining a teenage Muslim. In the midst of this turmoil, mother and detective Jasmeet Bhamra, played by Kareena, intervenes to look into what transpired that night. Her inquiry also draws criticism for causing unrest in the neighbourhood because everyone is under suspicion.
“I think I loved playing that part because this is the first time I am playing a detective, and I am a huge crime drama fan,” Kareena explained in a previous interview, reflecting on her performance. ” She acknowledged the challenges of her role, noting that the character’s grief was particularly tough to portray. Nonetheless, she described it as “a career-defining role for me and one of my best characters.”
In an earlier interview, Kareena explained, “I can’t wait for people to see the film because it’s 80% English 20% Hindi.” She added, “It’s kind of like an amalgamation of a lot of things coming together, the Indian community there (Buckingham), as well as a detective who is also a mother and what’s happened to her so I just feel like everything just happens for a reason so I’m just super super excited for people to watch it at the festival in a couple of weeks.”
In supporting roles in The Buckingham Murders are Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen. In addition to having its world premiere in October 2023 at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre during the BFI London Film Festival, the movie was well-received during its October 2023 screening at the Mumbai Film Festival.
