Tarot is coming to DVD and Blu-ray. The horror film, which was a sleeper hit in theatres, will be available in physical media in July.

On July 9, 2024, Tarot will be available on Blu-ray and DVD, according to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. This comes after the movie opens in theatres on May 3, 2024. Since then, the film has become a huge financial success, grossing over $47 million globally on a $8 million budget. Additionally, the amount exceeds the box office receipts of other recent blockbuster horror films including Barbarian ($45 million), Thanksgiving ($46 million), and Abigail ($42 million).

According to the Tarot synopsis, “When a group of friends recklessly violates the sacred rule of Tarot readings – never use someone else’s deck – they unknowingly unleash an unspeakable evil trapped within the cursed cards. One by one, they come face to face with fate and end up in a race against death to escape the future foretold in their readings.”

Tarot was written and directed by Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg. Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Avantika, Wolfgang Novogratz, Humberly González, Larsen Thompson, and Jacob Batalon are among the ensemble cast members. Leslie Morgenstein, Elysa Koplovitz Dutton, and Scott Glassgold were among the producers; Cohen and Halberg served as executive producers along with Andre Pfeffer and Scott Strauss.

“It’s certainly a different niche,” star Jacob Batalon told CBR about the movie’s unique plot. “I mean, again, [what intrigued me is] the idea that it’s definitely a different type of horror that we’ve not necessarily seen. I think we’ve seen everything, in terms of the supernatural, to jump-scare types, to [movies] based on real events, and everything. But I don’t think we’ve really tackled just the spiritual sort of tarot side, and I think that was probably the most interesting to me.”

Accurately predicting that the film may be a money-maker, Batalon explained That, “I know that a lot of young people today are into star signs, they’re into tarot, they’re into palm reading, they’re into all these things. So, I think just from a business standpoint, it’s a good move. But this is a very great story, for sure.”
