Status filters and AI chat shortcuts are now available for WhatsApp beta testers

WhatsApp is adding an image update to improve the AI conversations feature’s user experience. With a new shortcut, users of the most recent Android beta version of WhatsApp may now access AI talks straight from the main chat list. Above the new chat button, this shortcut takes the form of a white button with a multicolored ring around it. The goal of this graphic improvement is to facilitate users’ ability to start and participate in AI talks.

With just a “/imagine” query, Meta AI’s new AI assistant can also create realistic-looking pictures from scratch, much like text-to-image generators like MidJourney and Bing Image Creator. Right now, you can use the function for free.

WhatsApp is developing a new section for status updates in addition to the AI chat shortcut. In order to better organize and manage their status updates, users can browse and filter a list of updates in this section.

Select Android beta testers can now access these enhancements, and it is expected that eventually, all users will be able to utilize them.

The introduction of AI assistants to Meta’s messaging apps, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp, was announced in September. These chatbots can respond to user requests, conduct Bing web searches, and produce images in response to text prompts. They are powered by Meta’s large language model, Llama 2. Furthermore, a range of personality AI avatars will be unveiled by Meta.

The new button will make it simpler for users to find the feature on their own rather than requiring them to take extra steps in order to initiate a new AI conversation. However, it may take some time for Meta to roll out AI conversations to users in other regions.

Additionally, WABetaInfo has found a new filtered vertical list on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.25.3 that lets users read every status that is available—including channels—through a vertical list. The collection of status updates is comparable to WhatsApp’s version of Instagram stories.
