The release date of the highly anticipated Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland has been formally revealed by Sony.
Just two months after Avengers: Doomsday’s May 1, 2026, premiere, the movie will hit theatres on July 24, 2026.
This Columbia Pictures film, which has not yet been given a title, will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home are some of the other films in the series.
Holland’s return and production timeline for ‘Spider-Man 4’
Holland, who last portrayed Spider-Man in the worldwide success Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, will return to the character in the next movie.
The actor recently stated that Spider-Man 4 production will start in the middle of 2025 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Holland’s itinerary also includes filming Christopher Nolan’s upcoming feature and potentially a part in Avengers: Doomsday, which is produced by Marvel Studios.
‘Spider-Man 4’ script and potential cast details
With the world forgetting Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man, the plot of Spider-Man 4 is probably going to pick up where No Way Home left off.
Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, who wrote No Way Home, are writing the script for the next movie.
Holland recently discussed his thoughts on an early draft of the script in an interview with the Rich Roll Podcast, stating, “It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job.”
Sony and Marvel’s Partnership Continues with ‘Spider-Man 4’
Disney-owned Marvel Studios collaborates with Sony to make the Spider-Man films, even though Sony owns the film rights.
In 2015, the collaboration was established, opening the door for Spider-Man to become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Whether Zendaya will play MJ again in the next film is still up in the air.
Cretton’s journey from ‘Shang-Chi’ to ‘Spider-Man 4’
In September, it was reported that Cretton, who helmed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will be directing Spider-Man 4.
He takes over for the previous trilogy’s director, Jon Watts.
Cretton remains with Marvel and is now concentrating on Spider-Man 4 rather than a potential Shang-Chi sequel, despite his initial plan to helm Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which was then changed into Avengers: Doomsday.
