In its most recent over-the-air upgrade, Rivian is leveraging connectivity, which may not be the greatest benefit of driving an electric car. SiriusXM, YouTube on TV, and Google Cast are now integrated into the infotainment system of every model from the well-known EV manufacturer.
Even if they haven’t signed up for Connect+ yet, any Rivian owner can now test out the new streaming features. Along with fixing a number of minor problems, the rollout gives Gen 2 drivers access to the Lane Change on Command function for convenient and safe travel.
Make the most of your screen and speakers
A long-awaited addition to Rivians’ front cabin
Your high-end EV’s touchscreen typically has a very serious duty, but Rivian’s most recent update allows for some fun with flexible media streaming. All owners can now stream from YouTube or a device that supports Google Cast, and they can take advantage of a free trial of SiriusXM radio that is integrated.
Although you will eventually need to subscribe to Connect+ or the SiriusXM service in order to continue using the multimedia add-ons, anyone can test the capabilities right now. Video streaming is now limited to when parked. However, media playback would be the ideal function for the upcoming EV maker to add to the backseat in order to keep passengers entertained, as users have been demanding changes to the rear display for some time.
Along with minor enhancements to provide you more precise control over modes and settings and to better notify you of vehicle status, the display now features chevrons to highlight autonomous slowdowns when using Adaptive Cruise Control or Highway Assist. Additionally, the updated software fixes a number of infrequent, small defects, the majority of which you have most likely never encountered.
Additionally, Gen 2 Rivians’ owners benefit from improved Lane Change on Command execution, which enables the EV to accelerate and locate the ideal space for a safe transition to the next lane. In order to give a more complete image of their location and that of the automobiles around them, developers have improved the 360-degree visualisations on the display.
