On Sunday, singer Sidhu Moose Wala would have turned 29. Days after his security cover was withdrawn last year, he was shot by attackers on bikes. His mother Charan Kaur posted a devastating message on Instagram on the first anniversary of his death, remembering the day he was born.

Many of Sidhu Moose Wala’s hundreds of admirers, friends, and relatives still remember him fondly. Rapper Divine paid him homage last month at the IPL awards show. On this day, which also happened to be the first anniversary of his passing, Divine introduced himself as Siddhu Moose Wala. He reportedly uttered “Rest in peace Siddhu Moose Wala” and prompted the audience to recite the late rapper’s name after him.
