Noida International Airport (NIAL), also known as Jewar Airport, has carried out its first trial flight run or first flight validation test, marking a significant milestone in India’s aviation paradigm.
It is anticipated that the airport will begin commercial operations in 2025. Located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, this airport is regarded as a historic undertaking. The workload from Delhi’s nearby Indira Gandhi International Airport is anticipated to be transferred. At the moment, the busiest airport in the nation is Delhi.
Parts of the state and the vital National Capital Region (NCR), which includes important cities like Delhi, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Noida, will be served by the Jewar airport.
Up to 1.2 crore passengers are anticipated to use the airport annually.
Yamuna International Airport Private Limited is in charge of the airport’s development (YIAPL). The YIAPL is a fully owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, which works closely with the Indian and Uttar Pradesh governments.
Up to Rs 7,100 crore has been invested in the project thus far. This exceeds the Rs 5,000 crore estimate for the 2008 project as a whole.
