“Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-” Confirmed for Release in North America

GKIDS announced on Friday that they have won the theatrical rights for the North American distribution of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, with the formal release date slated for next month.

When is the Mobile Suit GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- release date?

On February 28, 2025, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- will be released, bringing this eagerly awaited project to the world. This is the first major joint venture between Sunrise, the studio behind the Mobile Suit Gundam series, and Hideaki Anno’s Studio Khara, the studio behind Evangelion.

The film is directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, who is known for his work on the FLCL anime and the Evangelion series. Yoji Enokido wrote the screenplay, and Hideaki Anno is also acknowledged for his contribution to the writing process.

Re-edited episodes from the upcoming anime Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX, which will debut in Japan on January 17, 2025, make up the movie.

“Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle. Under the entry name “Machu,” she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji. Now their world is about to enter a new era.”
