Longlegs, the highly regarded horror film with an astounding 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is soon to be available on digital streaming platforms. The movie, in which Nicolas Cage plays a terrifying part unlike any other, was an enormous summer blockbuster.

The film’s title character, a serial killer and devil worshipper who has eluded law enforcement for more than 30 years, is portrayed by Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage. The movie debuted in theatres on July 12 and quickly became the highest grossing R-rated horror movie of the year, shattering numerous records. What to Stream informs that Longlegs, following its incredible run, will be available on digital streaming on August 23.

Longlegs is the product of independent studio NEON and will soon be available on digital and VOD platforms. Right now, you can pre-order the horror hit for $24.99 on digital platforms like VUDU, AppleTV+, and Prime Video. The movie will probably cost $19.99 on PVOD on streaming services.

Longlegs surpassed forecasts with a home gross of $72.9 million and an international gross of $27 million, reaching the $100 million mark thus far. The independent horror movie also had a low budget—less than $10 million—which helped it turn a big profit and become NEON’s highest-grossing movie ever.

Longlegs was hailed as the “scariest film of 2024” in early reviews, and critics found the movie to be entertaining in addition to being a commercial triumph. It had an incredible 86% when more reviews were added to its initial flawless score of Rotten Tomatoes, which dropped to 86%. As of right now, the review aggregation website is still listing it as Certified Fresh. The majority of reviewers compliment both Cage’s performance and director Osgood “Oz” Perkins’ creepy atmosphere. That explained why the audience’s opinions on the horror were divided; some called it “pretentious” and “super boring,” which is why it received an audience score of 60%—a level that isn’t particularly concerning.

What’s Next for Longlegs’ Cast?

Maika Monroe played the lead in Longlegs, starring Nicolas Cage as a serial killer who was there but just in a supporting capacity. Completing the cast were Alicia Witt and Blair Underwood. Despite having more than 100 acting credits to his name, Nicolas Cage’s career took a turn for the better after he met Longlegs.

The actor isn’t overly excited about the prospect of portraying additional serial killers, though. “I know that the phone’s going to be ringing off the hook to play serial killers after Longlegs. And that’s not really what I like to do,” Cage told The New Yorker. “I don’t like violence. I don’t want to play people who are hurting people.”Rather, his first TV project, a live-action series about Spider-Man Noir dubbed Spider-Noir, is in pre-production and scheduled to premiere on Prime Video. This is just one of his many prospective roles. Cage will also feature in David O. Russell’s biopic of John Madden and the psychological thriller The Surfer.

Maika Monroe, the actress most known for her role as Lee Harker, will be seen in the much awaited They Follow, the follow-up to the 2014 movie It Follows. Regarding Osgood Perkins, the filmmaker, he is set to return to NEON Studios for a different horror film, The Monkey, an adaptation of Stephen King. Released on February 21, 2025, the film stars Elijah Wood, Tatiana Maslany, and Theo James.
