The Syros, a new subcompact SUV from Kia India, will take the Sonet brand’s place in the Indian market. The Syros is a premium-positioned SUV that is under four meters in length.

The global Kia EV9 and Kia Telluride models from the Korean carmaker served as inspiration for the design of the Kia Syros. The pricing of Syros will be revealed during its launch at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The Mahindra XUX 3XO, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza are among of the vehicle’s rivals.

Syros has a tall-boy shape and a boxy silhouette. Instead of a conventional radiator grille, the car has an enclosed panel. The automobile appears taller since the air vents have been repositioned to the front bumper. Large vertical headlights with Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) flank the bumper panel, and the hefty silver skid plate gives the front end additional muscle.

The Syros has a strong shoulder line that runs the length of it, a flat hood line, and a consistent roofline. The cabin appears roomy because the window frames appear large enough to provide a sizable glasshouse area. Large wheel arches have been levelled off, and rails run along the roof. 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels will be standard on top-tier Syros models.

The rear end of the car is flat, while the top has vertical taillights. The tail lights’ L-shaped LED design looks good, and it appears that they were inspired by some of the international models.

Syros has a wheelbase of 2,550 mm and dimensions of 3,995 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,665 mm in height. In comparison to the Sonet, it is 55 mm taller, 10 mm wider, and has a 50 mm longer wheelbase. The 465-liter boot space of the Syros is 80 litres larger than that of the Sonet. The lighter upholstery in the cabin makes it more spacious than the Kia Seltos.

Frost Blue, Pewter Olive, Aurora Black Pearl, Intense Red, Gravity Grey, Imperial Blue, Sparkling Silver, and Glacier White Pearl are the eight colour options that Kia is providing for the Syros.

For its class, the Kia Syros’s cabin appears to be quite high-end. In addition to the extensive use of chrome accents and soft-touch upholstery, the inside is beige and grey with excellent fit, finish, and plastic quality. Syros boasts the newest technology and creature comforts, including an instrument display, a touchscreen infotainment system, and two 12.3-inch screens, in true Kia form. Among other things, it has a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, USB-C charging outlets, a premium Bose audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six airbags, rear window sunblinds, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assist System.

The well-proven 1.5-liter diesel and 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engines from the Kia Sonet power the new Kia Syros. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine produces 114 horsepower and 250 Nm of peak torque, while the 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produces 118 horsepower and 172 Nm of peak torque. Both manual and automatic transmission options are available for both powertrains.
