Kalki 2898 AD is heading to theatres and is expected to be one of the biggest blockbusters in India this year!

Under the working title Project K, the movie was first announced back in February 2020, with a 2022 release window being targeted by the production team. The date was originally scheduled for January 2024, however delays brought on by the epidemic forced the manufacturers to reschedule for May 9, 2024. However, Kalki 2898 AD was eventually confirmed to be released in June, despite the fact that India was holding general elections in May.

The movie will hit theaters on June 27, 2024.

Prabhas, who gained international recognition from SS Rajamouli’s (RRR) epic duology films Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, is the main cast member in Kalki 2898 AD. Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone will co-star with Indian cinema legend Kamal Hassan in prominent parts. The remaining cast members include Keethy Suresh, Rajendra Prasad, Anna Ben, Disha Patani, and Pasupathy. Nag Ashwin is the director of the big project, and Vyjayanthi Movies is involved as producer.

The movie’s plot has been mostly kept a secret, however there are a number of fan ideas out there. It is known that the plot takes place in a post-apocalyptic world in 2898 AD and draws a lot of inspiration from Hindu mythology. According to the plot that is currently available, the film centres on a contemporary manifestation of Vishnu, a significant religious figure in Hindu mythology, who must come to Earth to protect it from evil powers. The film Kalki 2898 AD is being positioned as an epic science-fiction action movie, and it’s anticipated that the director would heavily appropriate science fiction aspects from previous Hollywood productions.

The film’s promotion team hasn’t released a trailer yet, so they’ve instead depended on releasing little clips to promote the cast. In July 2023, a first look video was made available along with the film’s official title and first look, marking the first time an Indian film had been shown at San Diego Comic-Con.

Kalki 2898 AD, which had a $75 million budget, is the most expensive Indian film ever made. In Hyderabad, India’s Ramoji Film City, futuristic sets have served as the backdrop for filming.
