OnePlus is getting ready to release a new watch shortly. “It’s about time,” OnePlus stated, hinting to the design of its second watch. The firm did not provide any information about when it would launch. Leaks, however, suggest that the device might make its public debut at MWC, which takes place in Barcelona, Spain, on February 26. The launch date has not yet been formally announced by OnePlus.
A frequent leaker of future technology, Max Jambor, had previously predicted that the OnePlus Watch 2 would be unveiled at MWC 2024. He now states that it will occur on February 26. The watch’s manufacturer, OnePlus, invited users to guess what the teaser image on their community forum represented. The catch is that they are only interested in inaccurate guesses. You can turn in your incorrect response until February 26 at 5:00 PM Indian Standard Time. This date may align with the OnePlus Watch 2’s release. The fact that the contest is open to residents of Europe, North America, and India suggests that these are the likely regions where the watch will be sold.
According to leaked photos, the OnePlus Watch 2 is anticipated to have a circular dial with an extend on the right side. This bulge probably contains two buttons, giving the timepiece a unique appearance. Sensors on the underside monitor health parameters, and the opposite side appears to include a speaker grille. The watch may have a substantial bezel encircling the screen, with possibilities for both analog and digital watch faces. There are rumors that the screen is a 1.43-inch AMOLED panel.
The OnePlus Watch 2’s frame looks to have a smooth finish in the leaked photos. But we don’t know what materials were used for the strap or the body. Apple watch strap mechanisms are similar to this one.
The black and light grey Watch 2 was seen off in the leaks. The watch may have a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC inside. It is expected to keep features from its predecessor, such as GPS and 5ATM+ IP68 dust and water resistance.
Whether the watch will use WearOS or an exclusive RTOS is a subject of speculation. Considering the powerful Snapdragon chip previously indicated, the former may appear impossible. To verify this, we’ll need to wait for the formal unveiling.
