Houston Bar & Food expert, Matt Guiliani here with another edition of HOUSTONS BEST BARS. This time I sat down with “Main Street Greg” one of the founders of the Main Street Tap Experience. As i ordered my wings from the exceptionally clean bar, I couldn’t help but notice that from anywhere in the inside area you can see the game.
Greg began to tell me a wayward story of being in music as a studio owner for many years, eventually finding himself at another houston staple – Eastdown Warehouse. He recalled a night out where from his perspective there were more than a handful of moving parts that weren’t working out. Approaching the then owner, he offered to help out with sound and event production for free just to show love and build a better experience.
As it turned out, that one night turned into over 3 years working side by side with the team and eventually buying into the company when the rebrand hit, now part-owner of Houston Underground, arguably one of the best lowkey culture clubs our city has had. From there 3 weeks before HU closed they found and closed on Main Street Tap and Grill’s convenient location at 4002 N Main St.
Built with the true spirit of Houston in mind, Main Street Tap & Grill rivals the best bars this foodie has ever been to, little woodrows, pluckers etc.
Boasting national talent such as David De La Garza, Spaceman Jack, and the Dead Rabbits to name a few in passing, this local dive venue accomplishes both hometown comfort, with big city thrills. So if you are a dive bar fanatic, a sports fan that needs a new spot, a local music enthusiast or you just want a bar that passed inspection 22 times in 16 days, Main Street Tap is a sure bet.
