Although the update seems to be a minor patch with bug fixes based on the current Pixel Camera app version 9.7 (via 9to5Google), Google is making a new version of the app available for download on the Google Play Store.
Version 9.7.047.702121536.18 of the Pixel Camera app has been replaced by the latest version, 9.7.047.710329721.21. Although the update will obviously be lower if you already have the app installed on your Pixel phone, it has a download size of 574 megabytes. It was last updated today, January 30, 2025, according to the Pixel Camera listing on the Google Play Store.
All eligible Pixel phones, including the most recent Google Pixel 9 series, are gradually getting the update. After applying the update, there are no discernible changes, and the app’s changelog does not indicate any new features. As a result, this is most likely a small patch that includes security updates, bug fixes, or both.
The Pixel Camera app most recently incorporated a few new features in version 9.7. Manual adjustments for some camera parameters, including as brightness, white balance, and shadows, were brought back with the update. You may do this by tapping the new Quick Access Controls section from the Pixel Camera’s viewfinder. This undoes a modification made to the Pixel Camera app in version 9.1 that made it harder to access certain controls.
In other developments, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Pixel Fold now have Dual Screen Portrait Mode thanks to v9.7. Vertical panoramas, an underwater option, and simpler access to the astrophotography mode were all added in the previous version 9.6.
The most recent Pixel Camera upgrade is currently available for download from the Google Play Store.
