Google keeps placing audacious bets on how much AI will be used in the workplace. In an effort to make its suite of products your go-to personal assistant, the tech giant claims it will be adding a ton of new AI-powered Gemini features to Google Workspace in the upcoming months.

Google says that the next round of Gemini features goes beyond passive suggestions like improperly rewriting sentences. Workspace Flows, a no-code automation tool that leverages AI to plan intricate, multi-step processes, will be one of the most significant enhancements.

Do you need to sort support tickets, initiate approvals, or scan policy documents? Simply state the objective in simple terms, and Flows will create a logic-based automation to accomplish it, all the while accessing Drive files and unique Gemini-powered AI agents. Gems is called by Google.

Gemini will also include an enhanced Help Me Write feature in Google Docs, which the company claims will function more as a writing coach than a grammatical checker. It will be able to guarantee formatting consistency, enhance structure, and help clarify arguments.

Docs will also enable full audio versions of papers or provide the ability to create brief, podcast-style summaries for those who prefer to listen to information rather than read it. Additionally, Sheets in Google Workspace will get additional Gemini-powered functionality.

Spreadsheets may not be as scary with the impending Help Me Analyze function. Even for non-experts, it can offer direction and interactive graphics for trend discovery. Along with earlier Gemini capabilities that were made available in Gmail and other platforms, these features will join Google’s ongoing Gemini testing in Calendar.

Additionally, Gemini is upgrading Meet and Chat. Gemini can now summarize missing segments, revisit conversations, and even help with talking points before you speak up in Meet. Just typing “@gemini” into Chat will allow you to extract chat summaries, ask clarifying questions, or monitor decisions—all while participating in a group discussion.

A significant emphasis on control and privacy is also at the heart of all these developments. According to Google, Gemini never uses your data for training without your consent. Businesses will have greater control over where information is processed and stored thanks to new data residency choices, which will also help them adhere to privacy regulations like the GDPR.

However, you are free to decide whether or not to use Google’s new Workspace Gemini features. However, in the upcoming weeks, Alpha users will be the first to receive these, with broader rollouts to follow.
