Gemini Live is getting a model update that will “make your conversations even more dynamic and engaging” after Talk Live discussed this.

Google says it is “beginning to roll out updates to Gemini” in an email sent to select Live users today. Gemini says to be able to “better understand multiple languages, dialects, or accents” during a discussion thanks to an unidentified “latest model.” Additionally, it can “assist with your translation needs.”

Google’s Multimodal Live API, which can handle text, audio, and video input and output text and audio, was made available to developers with Gemini 2.0. Those features are apparently being used for Gemini Live, as demonstrated in the demo below.

Additionally, the email mentions that the Gemini app will soon have “screen sharing and live video streaming capabilities,” which Google previously demonstrated with Astra.

Gemini will store your screenshares, audio, and video in Gemini Apps Activity as part of this “better experience.” As of right now, Gemini Live only saves and handles “transcripts of your Live chats.”

As stated in the December 2024 privacy support, “At this time, live voice and audio data is not saved to Google servers.” We’ll be open and honest about any modifications. Not every user has received today’s email yet.

In an effort to make your interactions even more lively and interesting, Google is beginning to improve Gemini.

You can have more organic voice chats with Gemini on your phone with Gemini Live. With our most recent model, Live can assist you with translation wants and comprehend more languages, dialects, or accents in a single Live chat. We’ll also be adding screen sharing and live video streaming to Live in the upcoming months.

The Gemini Apps Privacy Notice governs how your data is treated. Your audio, video, and screenshares are saved in your Gemini Apps Activity (if enabled) as part of this enhanced experience. You can manage and remove your Gemini Apps activity at any moment, and your data is erased according on your auto-delete period in that setting.
