Final Round Begins: Netflix’s Squid Game Season 3 to Premiere on this Date

Fans of the hit South Korean series Squid Game have finally received an exciting update about the highly anticipated third season. Directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the dystopian survival thriller is set to return to Netflix sooner than expected. The streaming giant has officially announced that Squid Game Season 3 will premiere on June 27, marking the final chapter of the globally acclaimed show.

Netflix India unveiled a striking new poster to accompany the announcement, depicting a masked guard clad in pink dragging a deceased contestant dressed in the show’s signature green tracksuit into a coffin wrapped with a bow—a chilling visual reminiscent of moments from Season 2. Alongside the image, Netflix wrote, “Press (circle emoji) for the final round. On June 27, watch Squid Game Season 3. #NextOnNetflix.” The artwork also features floral murals arranged in a circular pattern on the floor, reinforcing the show’s eerie and symbolic aesthetics.

While the reveal thrilled many viewers, some remained skeptical, given the long three-year wait between the first and second seasons. One fan questioned, “You mean this June, right?” while another excitedly commented, “Hype mode activated.” Some also noted that Netflix had previously leaked the release date before hastily removing a teaser. The poster’s tagline, “Prepare for the final game,” confirms that this will be the concluding season of the series.

Originally debuting in 2021, Squid Game follows Lee Jung-jae’s character, Seong Gi-hun, also known as Player 456, as he enters a deadly series of games to escape financial ruin. Season 2, which premiered last year, saw Gi-hun returning voluntarily, determined to dismantle the sinister organization running the games. However, his mission was complicated by the enigmatic Frontman, portrayed by Lee Byung-hun. The latest season promises to resolve the intense cliffhanger that left fans eagerly awaiting the ultimate showdown. Wi Ha-joon also reprises his role as police officer Hwang Jun-ho, who is determined to uncover the truth behind the brutal competition.
