With the release of The Continental prequel series and John Wick Chapter 4, everyone’s attention has been focused on Ana de Armas’ Ballerina, the spin-off of John Wick.
The eagerly expected Ballerina movie update is provided by Ana de Armas.
Ana de Armas spoke about the John Wick spin-off’s reshoots at the Toronto International Film Festival while promoting her next historical drama, Eden. She also discussed the eagerly awaited trailer for Ballerina and hinted at a possible release date.
Ballerina’s reshoots were required, as Ana de Armas explained in an interview with Perri Nemiroff of Collider. She explained
“All we did in those reshoots had to be there. We got amazing footage. It’s really spectacular. A trailer is coming out soon, I’ve been told. I saw it, and it’s beautiful. I’m very proud of it.”
He continued to praise the film with excitement, saying:
“It’s really exciting. It’s dangerous, it’s sexy, it’s very John Wick. I think people are going to be surprised. I’m biased. Of course, I like the movie, but I think it’s really cool. It’s going to be amazing.”
The actress explained that she had to make “a big switch mentally and physically to get back to that.” because the reshoots were only two weeks after she shot Eden.
Between the third and fourth John Wick chapters is where Ballerina takes place. In it, Ana de Armas portrays Rooney, a ballerina turned assassin who is out for revenge on those who killed her family.
Other well-known figures will also be seen in the interim, such as Ian McShane’s Winston Scott, Charon (played by the late Lance Reddick), and The Director (played by Anjelica Huston).
David Castañeda, Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, and Catalina Sandino Moreno are some of the latest cast members of Ballerina. On June 6, 2025, Len Wiseman’s Ballerina will open in theatres.
