The Pharrell Williams and Michel Gondry musical film Atlantis has a May 9, 2025 release date according to Universal.

The picture is based on Williams’ early years spent in the summer of 1977 at the Virginia Beach Atlantis Apartments.

This week at Telluride, the international premiere of Piece by Piece, a Focus Features biopic directed by Morgan Neville and narrated through Lego animation, will take place.

Gondry is the director of Atlantis, which is based on a screenplay by Tony Award-winning writer Martin Hynes (Toy Story 4) and Jonathan Larson (tick, tick, BOOM!), who wrote the Broadway adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s novel. Williams co-wrote the songs with Justin Paul and Benj Pasek, who were almost EGOT winners. Williams produces alongside two-time Best Picture Oscar contender Gil Netter (Life of Pi, The Blind Side) and Emmy winner Mimi Valdés (EP of Hidden Figures, the series Harlem).

The EPs are Paul, Pasek, Michael Mayer, Shani Saxon, Jennie Lee, Raffi Adlan, and Matthew Hirsch.

SAG winner Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Genius), six-time Grammy nominee Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid), Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph (The Holdovers), Oscar nominee Brian Tyree Henry (Causeway), Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), eight-time Grammy winner Anderson Paak (Trolls franchise), SAG winner and ten-time Grammy nominee Janelle Monáe (Hidden Figures), Emmy nominee Tim Meadows (Mean Girls films), Jayson Lee (61st Street), Jamilah Rosemond (Rustin), Jaboukie Young-White (C’mon, C’mon), and legendary hip-hop and R&B vocalist Missy Elliott (eight times).
