Recently, there have been rumours about Nothing producing an Android phone at a lower cost. This low-cost phone, dubbed the Nothing Phone 2a, is rumoured to draw influence from the Pixel A-series. We may now have a peek at the processor’s design and specifications thanks to a recent leak.
Android software developer Dylan Roussel posted a leaked animation of what appears to be the Nothing Phone 2a on X (previously Twitter). Although the animation isn’t particularly realistic, it does provide us with some intriguing details. Roussel also provided details about the chip, codename, model number, and other details in addition to the video.
We first view the front and back of the device in the animation. Not much is visible on the front, but it looks like the back will be different from the Nothing Phone 2 in terms of design. The Glyphs and the positioning of the camera are arguably the two most noticeable changes.
It seems that the Phone 2a, in contrast to earlier models, would have a horizontal twin camera arrangement centred. This validates a similar statement made by tipster Yogesh Brar in a previous leak. There might only be three Glyph parts included with this gadget.
Now for the information that has been leaked: the informant states that the Mediatek Dimensity 7200 chip will power the Phone 2a. As a result, the Phone 2a would be the first device from Nothing to include a Mediatek SoC. It’s also rumoured that the codenames Pacman or Aero, along with the model number A142, could be attached.
Previous rumours have indicated that the low-cost phone might include a punch-hole cutout positioned in the middle. Additionally, it’s thought that the gadget would incorporate design cues from the Phone 1 and 2. Untrustworthy leaks suggest that the Phone 2a may sport a 6.7-inch OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, a 50MP dual camera system, and a 4,920mAh battery.
