Tesla said on Thursday it consented to an agreement with borrowers in China for a year facility of up to 3.5 billion yuan ($521 million) for the electric car maker’s Gigafactory in Shanghai.
The organization got things started on the plant in January, and a Shanghai city government official said on Wednesday that the facility is relied upon to be finished in May.
Tesla has said that the Gigafactory will cost around $2 billion.
Creating cars locally is probably going to enable the organization to limit the effect of the U.S.- China trade war, which has constrained Tesla to alter costs of its U.S.- made cars in China.
Holding costs under tight restraints will likewise enable Tesla to fight off challenge from a swathe of domestic electric vehicle new companies, for example, Nio Inc, Byton and XPeng Motors.
