The Haryana Steelers secured their maiden Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) title by defeating the Patna Pirates 32-23 in the Season 11 final at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune, on Sunday, December 29. Dominating both the regular season and the playoffs, the Steelers ended their campaign on a high note.
The Steelers had topped the league table with an impressive 16 wins from 22 matches, amassing 84 points to finish as the regular-season leaders. Their stellar form continued into the final, where star performers like Shivam Patare, Mohammadreza Shadloui, and Vinay played pivotal roles. Patare led the charge with 9 points, Shadloui contributed 7, and Vinay added 6 to ensure the team’s historic victory. The Haryana Steelers earned INR 3 crore in prize money, while runners-up Patna Pirates walked away with INR 1.8 crore.
The final began with high energy, as the Haryana Steelers took an early lead. While Patna’s Devank and Ankit tried to counter, it was the Steelers who set the pace, driven by Patare and Shadloui. The defensive unit, anchored by Jaideep and Rahul Sethpal, was impenetrable, making life difficult for the Pirates’ raiders. However, Patna stayed in contention thanks to efforts from Gurdeep and Sudhakar, narrowing the gap before halftime. The Steelers still maintained a slender lead of 15-12 at the break.
The second half saw a strong push from Patna, with Sudhakar striking early. Yet, the Steelers’ defense continued to hold firm, keeping Devank and Ayan largely ineffective. Shadloui, dubbed “The Show Stopper,” and Jaideep delivered critical points, helping Haryana maintain their edge.
Around the 30-minute mark, the Steelers had stretched their lead to three points. Soon after, they dealt a decisive blow by inflicting the first ALL OUT of the match, widening the gap to nine points. With time running out, the Steelers managed the clock and their opponents with precision, extinguishing any hopes of a Pirates comeback.
At the final whistle, the Haryana Steelers emerged victorious, clinching their first-ever PKL title and etching their name in the league’s history.
