Users can examine their devices’ permission-related activity around-the-clock using the Android Privacy Dashboard. This update is for you if you would rather have a more thorough picture that goes beyond 24 hours.

Users now have access to seven days’ worth of data thanks to a Google upgrade that has begun rolling out to the Android Privacy Dashboard.

This update is currently accessible for Pixel devices running Android 15 QPR1, per a report from 9to5Google. The November 2024 Google Play system update includes this as well. After installing the update, navigate to Settings > Security & privacy > Privacy dashboard to activate your Android device’s 7-day history function.

It’s noteworthy to note that Google has been developing this functionality for some time. Initially, Google intended to deliver this with Android 13. Although it was really enabled in Android 16 DP1, Google appears to have chosen to release it in Android 15.

The decision made by Google to release this update is another intriguing aspect about it. These improvements were made through Google Play system updates rather than waiting for a significant Android update. This demonstrates the more effective ways in which Google can modify and enhance Android in the future.

You have the option to maintain the same 24-hour view if you’d like. Depending on their preference, users can switch between 24 hours and 7 days. based on your preference for a more thorough or condensed summary. This at least increases the number of alternatives available to users. particularly if they have to go back in time and check for any irregularities.

What is Privacy Dashboard?

In Android 12, the Android Privacy Dashboard was first made available. The feature was created with the intention of giving people more insight into what happens on their phones. Android has always been transparent about permission requests from apps. Users can actually see what is accessed and, more crucially, when it is accessed thanks to the Android Privacy Dashboard.

You can tell that something is amiss if your phone is locked and not in use yet the Privacy Dashboard indicates that the microphone or camera was used during that period.

Additionally, it displays which apps have been using it and when. This enables consumers to promptly identify potentially suspicious apps that may be using specific smartphone features improperly.
