In Ranji Trophy, Anshul Kamboj has become the third bowler to pick up ten wickets in an innings

Haryana fast bowler Anshul Kamboj etched his name into cricketing history by becoming only the third cricketer to claim all ten wickets in a single innings during the Ranji Trophy. Kamboj accomplished this rare feat at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Stadium in Lahli, dismissing Kerala’s Shoun Roger to finish with remarkable bowling figures of 30.1-9-49-10 in the first innings.

Before Kamboj, only two other players had achieved this distinction in Ranji Trophy history: Bengal’s Premangsu Chatterjee in the 1956-57 season and Rajasthan’s Pradeep Sunderam in 1985-86. Kamboj also joins an elite group of six Indians who have taken all ten wickets in a first-class innings, alongside legends like Subhash Gupte, Anil Kumble, and Debasis Mohanty. Globally, this remarkable accomplishment has occurred 90 times in first-class cricket, with Anil Kumble, Jim Laker, and Ajaz Patel being the only bowlers to achieve it in Test cricket.

The 23-year-old Kamboj hails from Karnal, a region better known for boxing than cricket. He started playing on open fields and only began focusing on cricket seriously at the age of 14. Over the years, his hard work has propelled him to Haryana’s state team and secured him a spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

This incredible ten-wicket haul is the latest in a series of milestones for Kamboj over the past year. During Haryana’s victorious Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign, he claimed 17 wickets in ten matches, including a standout performance of 4 for 30 in the semi-final against Tamil Nadu. In the Duleep Trophy, playing for India C, Kamboj delivered a career-best 8 for 69 against India B, dismissing established domestic players like Sarfaraz Khan and Rinku Singh.

Kamboj also shone on the international stage as part of the India Emerging squad at the T20 Asia Cup, where his 3 for 33 against Pakistan Shaheens was pivotal. This year, he made his IPL debut in three games with the Mumbai Indians. While not retained ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, his standout performances have made him one of the most anticipated uncapped players for the auction on November 24 and 25.
