The next-generation Renault Duster, set to launch in 2025, has been spotted testing in India for the first time. Spy images from Kerala reveal the midsize SUV undergoing road tests, with glimpses of its alloy wheels and tail section. Despite the heavy black wrap, the design appears reminiscent of the current global model, hinting at familiar aesthetics.

This five-seater SUV will compete with popular rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Honda Elevate. The global version of the Duster, unveiled last year, is built on the modular CMF-B architecture, widely utilized across various brands in Europe.

For India, the 2025 Duster will ride on a heavily localized CMF-B platform, ensuring its suitability for local conditions and cost-efficiency. Production will take place at the Renault-Nissan alliance plant in Oragadam, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The platform will also underpin a Nissan counterpart scheduled for the same year, with seven-seater variants for both models expected to follow shortly after.

Teaser images of the India-specific Duster and its Nissan sibling were recently revealed, signaling the duo’s development as part of the alliance’s strategic expansion in the country. While official powertrain details remain under wraps, speculation points to the inclusion of two turbocharged petrol engines, paired with manual and automatic transmission options.

The interior of the India-spec Duster is anticipated to feature an array of advanced amenities, continuing Renault’s reputation for value-packed offerings. Key features are likely to include a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster, a flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls, Type-C charging ports, wireless charging, electronic parking brake, automatic climate control, multiple airbags, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

With a competitive pricing strategy expected to align with Renault and Nissan’s current approach, the new Duster is poised to make a strong impact in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment.
