On October 26, Mazda formally unveiled the Mazda EZ-6, a new mid-size vehicle based on Changan’s EPA hybrid platform. Prices range from 139,800 to 179,800 yuan (about 19,630 to 25,250 USD) for the seven variants in the portfolio. Both range-extended (EREV) and fully electric (BEV) variants of the EZ-6 are available.
With split headlights, LED daytime running lights, and an illuminated Mazda emblem, the EZ-6 adheres to Mazda’s “Kodo” design language. Nano-grade pigments are used in two new colours, “moon grey” and “radiant gold,” to improve their appearance.
When viewed from the side, the EZ-6 features a fastback profile and a ducktail spoiler that helps with aerodynamics by deploying above 90 kph. With dimensions of 4,921 mm for length, 1,890 mm for breadth, and 1,485 mm for height, and a wheelbase of 2,895 mm, the EZ-6 offers greater room than Deepal’s SL03 and L07 versions.
The EZ-6 has a 50-inch AR heads-up display (AR-HUD), a digital instrument cluster, and a 14.6-inch infotainment screen. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset, which powers the cabin, combines entertainment features, seat adjustments, and climate control. A 64-color lighting system, a 14-speaker Sony audio system, 13 ambient scene styles, and reclining front seats are further amenities. There’s also a four-zone voice activation system and a panoramic sunroof that doesn’t open.
In order to make room for two wireless phone charging ports on the centre console, Mazda mounted the drive selector on the steering column.
A 190 kW rear motor and two battery options are available for the EV version: a 56.1 kWh pack with a 480 km CLTC range and a 68.8 kWh pack with a 600 km range. In 15 minutes, the two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries charge from 30% to 80%.
A 1.5L JL473QJ engine producing 70 kW and a 160 kW electric motor are included in the EREV variant. Electric ranges of 130 km or 200 km and a maximum combined range of 1,301 km are provided by two battery options. It supports a range of travel needs by charging 30% to 80% in 20 minutes.
For everyday driving, Mazda offers L2.5 driver assistance with adaptive cruise control, remote parking, and more than 150 parking scenarios. Mazda also revealed plans to add another NEV model to its roster of electric vehicles in 2025.
