3 October will see the launch of two new Kia Motors vehicles in India: the all-electric EV9 and the Carnival.

The latter will serve as the nation’s flagship electric car for the business. There will be just one GT-Line AWD model with a six-seat configuration that is top of the line.

CarWale has unveiled the feature list for its future electric SUV ahead of its formal launch, revealing a number of cutting-edge comforts.

EV9 to sport twin 12.3-inch screens

The Kia EV9 will have a touch-based five-inch HVAC panel, a digital IRVM, and twin 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment system and instrument cluster.

It will also have wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options, a heads-up display, and a 14-speaker audio system from Meridian.

Additional technological features include an OTA update for greater ease, a digital key, a wireless charger, and connected tech with over 100 functionalities.

Safety and comfort features

Along with these features, the EV9 will also have a double sunroof, an electrically adjustable telescopic steering wheel, a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, and a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated insignia.

The car will have powered captain chairs with ventilation and massaging capabilities for the second row, a 12-way adjustable co-pilot seat, and an 18-way adjustable pilot seat with memory.

Additional amenities include a motorised tailboard, automated climate control, third-row seat recline and ten airbags for increased safety.

Up to 561km range expected per charge

With a single charge, the 99.8kWh battery pack that powers the Kia EV9 can travel 561 kilometres according to ARAI certification.

With a sprint pace of 5.3 seconds from zero to hundred kilometres per hour, the car can generate 700 Nm of torque and 380 horsepower.

With a suitable charger, the EV9 can be fast-charged from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes.

EV9 can be booked for ₹10 lakh

The Kia EV9 will have upholstery with a black and beige theme inside and will come in a six-seater version with captain chairs in the second row.

For a nominal fee of ₹10 lakh, pre-launch reservations for the EV9 are presently being accepted at a few dealerships. Test drives and showroom displays are planned to begin in March 2025.

Since it will be an entirely imported vehicle, the estimated price (ex-showroom) is ₹1 crore.
