Uprising, the much awaited historical drama on Netflix, has revealed a striking new launch poster along with its October 11th global release date.
Kang Dong Won, Park Jung Min, Kim Shin Rock, Jin Sun Kyu, Jung Sung Il, and Cha Seung Won are among the film’s remarkable cast members. Uprising, which has a screenplay by Shin Cheol and Park Chan Wook and elegant directing by Kim Sang Man, is sure to enthral audiences everywhere with its potent plot and chic direction.
The story of Jong Ryeo (Park Jung Min), the son of a prominent military family in Joseon, and his servant Cheon Yeong (Kang Dong Won) is told in Uprising, which is set against the chaotic backdrop of Japan’s invasion of Korea. Raised together, the two are now on different sides, with Jong Ryeo supporting King Seonjo (Cha Seung Won) and Cheon Yeong acting as a guerilla fighter.
Uprising, which has been chosen to start the 29th Busan International Film Festival, is creating a lot of excitement. The movie is “a sophisticated and powerful historical epic that shines in every aspect,” according to festival programmer Jeong Han Seok. The picture deftly depicts those who battle against fate and is set in an era when the king abandoned his people, forcing civilians to fight for their lives and then be labelled as rebels.
The film’s anarchy and violence are symbolised by the compelling picture of a hand wrapped in red fabric brandishing a raised sword in the recently released poster. Park Jung Min plays Jong Ryeo, the scion of a wealthy military family, and Kang Dong Won plays Cheon Yeong, a servant with unparalleled swordsmanship who is battling against his own destiny.
In the supporting cast are Cha Seung Won as the cowardly king who flees his people in their hour of need, Jung Sung Il as the brutal Japanese commander Genshin, Jin Sun Kyu as the nobleman leading civilians through the chaos, and Kim Shin Rock as the tenacious guerrilla fighter Beom Dong. The group pledges to put on thrilling concerts.
