YouTube is currently experimenting with a new feature that integrates Google Gemini to assist creators in generating ideas for videos, titles, and thumbnails. This innovative tool, named “Brainstorm with Gemini,” was introduced through a video on YouTube’s Creator Insider channel.

According to a YouTube spokesperson who spoke with TechCrunch, the feature is being tested with a select group of creators as part of a limited trial. YouTube plans to gather feedback from these participants to determine whether the feature should be rolled out more widely.

YouTube may have an advantage over other social media sites that video creators regularly utilize thanks to the Brainstorm with Gemini tool. By embedding its AI into the video creation process, Google aims to encourage creators to rely on its tools rather than turning to alternative AI platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

This new tool shares similarities with a previously tested AI feature YouTube introduced back in May. The earlier feature, an AI-driven content inspiration tool, helped creators generate video topic ideas that would resonate with their audience, providing an outline of key points to kick-start the content creation process.

The spokesperson also mentioned that with the new Gemini integration, creators now have the option to receive similar assistance but with enhanced capabilities. Gemini, a brand under Google that encompasses various AI large language models, is the latest AI resource being tested within YouTube. The platform is interested in evaluating whether creators prefer the original inspiration tool, the new Gemini integration, or a combination of both for brainstorming content ideas.

Creators involved in the experiment can access the feature by opening YouTube Studio and typing a video idea into the search bar. They will then be presented with two choices: the original inspiration tool or the Brainstorm with Gemini feature. While the inspiration tool has already been effective in helping creators come up with video concepts, YouTube is keen to see if the addition of Gemini’s capabilities will further enhance the creative process.

While other platforms like TikTok and Instagram are exploring the use of generative AI to enable creators to develop digital personas, YouTube is focusing on leveraging this technology to aid creators in crafting better content.
