Under Pete Browngardt’s direction, two-time Emmy Award winner Eric Bauza plays long-time pals Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, who while employed at the neighbourhood bubble gum plant stumble onto a sinister extraterrestrial invasion scheme. Along with Petunia Pig, the unlikely heroes set out on a perilous quest to repel zombies and extraterrestrials while delivering all the laughs and iconic images that Looney Tunes fans have come to expect.

The voices of Peter MacNicol, Wayne Knight, Laraine Newman, and franchise veterans Candi Milo and Fred Tatasciore are also featured in the movie.

“The Day the Earth Blew Up is a historical moment for the Looney Tunes franchise, and we are proud to be partnering with Warner Bros. Animation to bring this film to audiences theatrically. We cannot wait for audiences of all ages to experience one of the smartest animated films in recent years,” explained Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment.

“Gareth’s enthusiasm for Warner Bros. Animation’s spectacular, Looney adventure persuaded us that Ketchup Entertainment were the right partners for releasing the film in North America. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with the team as they prepare for audiences to embrace Porky Pig and Daffy Duck on the big screen,” explained Fred Hedman of GFM Animation.

The film was one of the content write-offs at HBO Max amid restructuring, despite the production having been originally approved for HBO Max in 2021. Production was allowed to continue, and WBA was given permission to shop it elsewhere. GFM Animation started selling the film at the American Film Market. At the June Annecy International Animation Film Festival, The Day the Earth Blew Up had its international premiere, to the delight of both spectators and critics.

The Day the Earth Blew Up was written by Darrick Bachman, Pete Browngardt, Kevin Costello, Andrew Dickman, David Gemmill, Ryan Kramer, Jason Reicher, Michael Ruocco, Johnny Ryan, and Eddie Trigueros. Alex Kirwan is the producer’s supervisor. Aaron Spurgeon works as the production designer, and Nick Cross is the art director. Executive producers Sam Register and Pete Browngardt oversee the Warner Bros. Animation production.
