On Sunday, July 14, at the renowned All England Tennis and Croquet Court, Carlos Alcaraz, who is regarded as one of the best players in the world, successfully defended his Wimbledon title by defeating the 24-time Grand Slam Champion in straight sets.

Alcaraz defeated the seven-time Wimbledon champion in the opening two sets, winning 6-2 and 6-2, to establish his dominance for the remainder of the day.

Carlos Alcaraz Creates Stunning World Record

Alcaraz has broken records with his historic victory at SW19 and is rapidly ascended into the ranks of tennis legends. The 21-year-old became the youngest tennis player in Open Era history to win both Wimbledon and Roland Garros in the same year. Indeed, after Rod Laver (1969), Bjorn Borg (1978–80), Rafael Nadal (2008, 2010), Roger Federer (2009), and Djokovic (2021), Alcaraz is only the sixth player in history to accomplish a Channel Slam.

Winning the channel slam is considered one of the hardest tennis achievements because the French Open and Wimbledon are held on very different surfaces—clay and grass—within a month of each other.

After Boris Becker and Bjorn Borg, Alcaraz is now the third-youngest player in history to defend a Wimbledon championship. In his first six seasonal matchups against the top six players in the ATP rankings, he has also emerged as the youngest player to win.

Only Roger Federer and this four-time Grand Slam winner have won all four of their Grand Slam final appearances.
