Three electric vehicles (EVs) will be among the six new cars Mercedes-Benz India aims to introduce in the second half of 2024. It began with the introduction of two facelifted electric SUVs, the EQA and EQB. Though the precise launch dates have not yet been disclosed, the remaining four models have already been alluded to. The following Mercedes-Benz cars are scheduled for release in India in 2024:

Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB

The sixth-generation E-Class LWB will be offered in India in the upcoming months, according to Mercedes-Benz. It is probably going to cost more than Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom). The regular wheelbase model has two petrol and two diesel engine options, though the powertrain options for this model are still unknown. The two petrol engines are a 2-liter unit with 48V mild hybrid technology that produces 197 PS and 320 Nm; the three petrol engines are a 3-liter straight-six with a 48V mild hybrid system that produces 367 PS and 500 Nm; the two diesel engines have an output of 194 PS and 400 Nm and a 3-liter straight-six that can produce 340 PS and 700 Nm.

The new E-Class features a multicoloured ambient lighting system, a 21-speaker Burmester sound system, two 12.3-inch displays (one for the driver’s display and the other for the passenger display), a 14.4-inch infotainment system, and linked automobile technology. It will be intriguing to observe which of these features make it into the Indian-spec E-Class, though.

AMG C 63 S E Performance Mercedes-Benz

In 2024, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance, another plug-in hybrid AMG vehicle, will also make its Indian debut. On the front axle of the vehicle will be a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, while the back axle will house an electric motor. As a result, it will generate 1,020 Nm and 690 PS overall. It can travel up to 13 kilometres on electricity alone. A 3.7 kW AC charger can be used to charge it.

With a 12.3-inch driver’s display, an 11.9-inch infotainment system, a heads-up display, a panoramic sunroof, and electrically adjustable front seats, the interiors are anticipated to resemble those of the international model.

Mercedes-Benz AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet

The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLE53 AMG Cabriolet is expected to arrive in India soon, broadening the selection of Mercedes convertibles available there. Its 3-liter, six-cylinder engine, rated for use abroad, generates 449 PS and 560 Nm, enabling the vehicle to reach 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds. It is connected to an automatic 9-speed DCT gearbox that powers each wheel independently. The four-seat CLE53 AMG would sit beneath the SL63 AMG, which is a two-seat roadster exclusively and receives the appropriate 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine.

Features on the international model include a fully digital 12.3-inch driver’s display, a heads-up display, wireless phone charging, 64-color ambient lighting, a Burmester sound system, and a vertically oriented 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS SUV

The Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS 680 SUV, the brand’s first electric vehicle, is scheduled to arrive in India this year and is anticipated to cost approximately Rs 3.80 crore (ex-showroom). The most costly model in Mercedes’ EV portfolio, the EQS SUV, may feature a dual motor system positioned on either axle that produces 658 PS and 950 Nm when powered by a 107.8 kWh battery pack. According to WLTP, it can travel up to 600 km.

With three integrated dashboard displays—two 12.3-inch displays for the driver’s and passenger’s displays—and a 17.7-inch OLED infotainment system, the interior will be replete with features. Other highlights include powered rear seats with memory function, four-zone air conditioning, a panoramic sunroof, and soft-close doors.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class with EQ Technology

It’s also possible that the Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ, an electric G-Wagen, which is currently accepting reservations, will be introduced at the very end of 2024 and go on sale in 2025. It will probably cost about Rs 3 crore (ex-showroom). It is constructed on a ladder-frame chassis with an independent front suspension and a rigid rear axle, just like an off-road vehicle would be. It is capable of generating 587 PS and 1,164 Nm from four motors in a 116 kWh battery pack. Its maximum WLTP-rated range is 473 km. A low-range transfer case will also be installed for appropriate off-road capability.

Regarding features, the electric G-Wagen is equipped with a Burmester sound system, two 12.3-inch displays (one for the infotainment screen and one for the driver’s display), and a transparent bonnet function that uses the front cameras to project an image onto the infotainment screen to help position the SUV correctly on an off-road trail.
