In the second half of 2024, four further Mercedes-Benz vehicles will arrive following the recent launch of the EQA and EQB facelifts.
The new E-Class long-wheelbase and AMG performance variant will be among the most eagerly awaited debuts.
Additionally announced is the Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS SUV, the company’s premier electric SUV.
The automaker may also introduce the Mercedes-Benz AMG CLE Cabriolet, which is an open-top vehicle.
The electric G-Class SUV is also accepting reservations, suggesting that it will likely go on sale this year.
Three electric vehicles (EVs) will be among the six new cars Mercedes-Benz India aims to introduce in the second half of 2024. It began with the introduction of two facelifted electric SUVs, the EQA and EQB.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB
The sixth-generation E-Class LWB will be offered in India in the upcoming months, according to Mercedes-Benz. It is probably going to cost more than Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom). The conventional wheelbase model comes with two engine options, a 2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 255 PS and 295 Nm and a 3-liter flat-six petrol engine that produces 375 PS and 369 Nm. Both engines are paired with a 48V mild hybrid motor. The powertrain options for this model have not yet been disclosed.
Mercedes-Benz AMG E53
The redesigned Mercedes-AMG E53, another AMG vehicle, will also be introduced in India. A 3-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain with a total output of 585 PS and 750 Nm will be available for the redesigned AMG E53. It can travel up to 101 kilometres on electricity alone. Either a 60 kW DC fast charger or a 9.6 kW AC charger can be used to charge it.
The interiors are anticipated to resemble those of the new E-Class and the international model, which comes equipped with electrically adjustable front sport seats, a 14.4-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch driver’s display, and an optional 12.3-inch front passenger display. Priced far above Rs 1 crore, it will be a CBU product.
Mercedes-Benz AMG CLE53 Cabriolet
The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLE53 AMG Cabriolet is expected to arrive in India soon, broadening the selection of Mercedes convertibles available there. Its 3-liter, six-cylinder engine, rated for use abroad, generates 449 PS and 560 Nm, enabling the vehicle to reach 100 kmph in 4.2 seconds. It is connected to an automatic 9-speed DCT gearbox that powers each wheel independently. The four-seat CLE53 AMG would sit beneath the SL63 AMG, which is a two-seat roadster exclusively and receives the appropriate 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine.
Features on the international model include a fully digital 12.3-inch driver’s display, a heads-up display, wireless phone charging, 64-color ambient lighting, a Burmester sound system, and a vertically oriented 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS SUV
The Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS 680 SUV, the brand’s first electric vehicle, is scheduled to arrive in India this year and is anticipated to cost approximately Rs 3.80 crore (ex-showroom). The most costly model in Mercedes’ EV portfolio, the EQS SUV, may feature a dual motor system positioned on either axle that produces 658 PS and 950 Nm when powered by a 107.8 kWh battery pack.
With three integrated dashboard displays—two 12.3-inch displays for the driver’s and passenger’s displays—and a 17.7-inch OLED infotainment system, the interior will be replete with features. Other highlights include powered rear seats with memory function, four-zone air conditioning, a panoramic sunroof, and soft-close doors.
Mercedes-Benz G-Class with EQ Technology
It’s also possible that the Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ, an electric G-Wagen, which is currently accepting reservations, will be introduced at the very end of 2024 and go on sale in 2025. It will probably cost about Rs 3 crore (ex-showroom). It is constructed on a ladder-frame chassis with an independent front suspension and a rigid rear axle, just like an off-road vehicle would be. It is capable of generating 587 PS and 1,164 Nm from four motors in a 116 kWh battery pack. Its maximum WLTP-rated range is 473 km.
Regarding features, the electric G-Wagen is equipped with a Burmester sound system, two 12.3-inch displays (one for the infotainment screen and one for the driver’s display), and a transparent bonnet function that uses the front cameras to project an image onto the infotainment screen to help position the SUV correctly on an off-road trail.
