WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new update that will enable Meta AI to reply to and edit photos sent by users. The new feature, spotted by WABetainfo in WhatsApp Beta version 2.24.14.20, is anticipated to be incorporated into the stable build in the near future.
According to the report, WhatsApp is experimenting with a new chat button that will allow users to share their pictures directly with Meta AI. Once the images are sent to Meta AI, users can ask the chatbot to identify specific objects or provide context about the photo. Additionally, users will have the ability to request Meta AI to make edits to the image via text prompts.
The screenshot shared by WABetainfo also suggests that WhatsApp will give users full control over their pictures, allowing them to delete the images at any time. This approach ensures that users retain ownership and privacy over their shared photos.
Furthermore, a previous report from WABetainfo indicated that WhatsApp is working on a feature that would let users obtain AI-generated images of themselves by sharing their photos with Meta AI. Meta AI will prompt users to send a set of photos, which it will analyze to create images that accurately represent the users’ appearances. Users will also be able to delete their setup images anytime by accessing Meta AI settings.
To activate the AI generator, users will need to type the prompt “Imagine me” in the Meta AI conversation. This feature can also be triggered in other conversations by typing “@Meta AI imagine me”. Importantly, Meta AI will not be able to read other messages in the conversation, ensuring privacy. The generated image will be processed automatically based on the user’s prompt.
This update highlights WhatsApp’s continuous efforts to enhance user experience by integrating advanced AI capabilities, providing innovative and interactive ways for users to engage with the platform.
