Shruti Vora, riding Magnanimous, achieved a historic milestone for Indian riders by being the first rider to win a three-star Grand Prix event.
In the June 7–9 CDI-3 event in Lipica, Slovenia, Shruti finished with 67.761 points. Tatiana Antonenco (Aachen) of Moldova came in second with a score of 66.522, behind the Indian. With a score of 66.087, Juliane Jerich (Quarter Girl) of Austria rounded out the top 3.
“I am extremely delighted with the result. I have worked hard, and the victory is indeed satisfying. The win has come in an Olympic year, and that makes it significant. The fact that I am the first rider from the country to win a three-star event makes it a special achievement. I will keep working hard to bring laurels for my country,” explained Shruti Vohra.
Shruti performed admirably in the Grad Prix Special, which was held concurrently at the same location. With a score of 66.085, she was second only to the Antonenco-Aachen combination.
“This is great news for the Indian equestrian fraternity. This inspiring performance from Shruti has made the country proud. Many women are taking up the sport, and such milestones will inspire many more riders to strive for excellence,”explains EFI Secretary General Col Jaiveer Singh.
Veteran rider Shruti, who hails from Kolkata, has competed for India in the Asian Games (2010) and Dressage World Championship (2022).
