Tuesday saw the return of OpenAI’s well-known ChatGPT service, which had been unavailable to certain customers.
Initially, the company announced early this morning that a problem was being looked at as a component of a “Unresolved incident.”
On X, users have been sharing images of “Bad gateway” problems they claimed to be seeing when attempting to visit ChatGPT.
Then, OpenAI updated its status page and said, “This incident has been resolved.” “A fix has been implemented and we are monitoring the results,” the company later announced.
According to media sources, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated in November that 100 million individuals use ChatGPT on a weekly basis.
Helen Toner, a former board member of OpenAI, revealed additional information in late May regarding Altman’s dismissal from the organization the previous year. Altman was later rehired after a new board was set up.
In an interview with The TED AI Show, Toner stated that Altman’s actions made it difficult for OpenAI’s specially designed non-profit board to fulfill its mandate of “ensuring that the company’s public good mission was primary, was coming first over profits, investor interests and other things.”
“For years, Sam had made it really difficult for the board to actually do that job by withholding information, misrepresenting things that were happening at the company, in some cases outright lying to the board,” she said.
Bret Taylor, the head of the OpenAI board, made a statement on the topic that was featured on The TED AI Show, which OpenAI directed FOX Business to.
“We find it unfortunate that Ms. Toner keeps bringing up these problems. An independent board committee worked with Wilmer Hale, a legal company, to undertake an extensive review of the events of November. The analysis came to the conclusion that the previous board’s choice was not supported by worries about the security or safety of the product, the speed of development, OpenAI’s financial situation, or its representations to partners, investors, or consumers.”
