Apple Vision Pro, which was unveiled at WWDC 2023 in June of last year, would be available in retailers the following month. Since a non-Pro Apple Vision has never been revealed, some people were first perplexed by the name that Apple had chosen. However, the company has begun eliminating the “Pro” label from Apple Vision mentions in the most recent iOS 17 beta, suggesting that it wants to be prepared for when that occurs eventually.
iOS is ready for a non-Pro Apple Vision
A few phrases that referenced Apple Vision Pro have been changed to simply “Apple Vision,” as 9to5Mac saw in the iOS 17.3 beta 2 coding. Strings pertaining to the App Store, for instance, used to read “Mac, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro Apps.” Currently, “Mac, iPad, and Apple Vision Apps” appears in the same string. This is of course meaningless for the time being, but it does demonstrate Apple’s desire to be prepared for the possibility of an announcement of a less expensive Apple Vision Pro model in the future. Additionally, the product is listed as “Vision” rather than Vision Pro under the navigation tab on Apple’s website.
Rumours circulated long before Apple officially unveiled the Apple Vision Pro, as the Pro model costs $3,499, suggesting Apple was also developing a less costly model. Although the precise differences between these two models are yet unknown, it’s possible that the less expensive Apple Vision will employ less high-end components and lack some functionality, such as EyeSight.
For this less costly variant, the corporation is targeting a price point between $1,500 and $2,500, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. A more reasonably priced Apple Vision is unlikely to be released before 2025 at the latest, though, considering that the Apple Vision Pro is only now making its way into the US and will only be available in a few other nations by the end of the year.
