Amazon announced on Friday that it plans to add thousands of small sellers to its e-commerce platform in order to reach its goal of $20 billion in item exports from India by 2025.

“The volume of entrepreneurs who registered this year gives us great hope. Regarding intentions for exports, Bhupen Wakankar, head of global commerce at Amazon, stated to Reuters on the edge of an industry gathering, “We are looking to scale up.”

According to Wakankar, there was a significant demand for “Made in India” organic health supplements, home furnishings like jute rugs and bath towels, and kid-friendly robotic toys in advance of the 11-day Black Friday Cyber Monday shopping event that begins on Friday.

Amazon Global Trade, the e-commerce giant’s business-to-consumer (B2C) export platform, began with a small number of traders in 2015 and is now gaining pace in India.

According to him, the company has recruited over 100,000 small manufacturers to sell a number of goods to customers overseas.

“Some of the sellers are first time exporters, including those who left their corporate jobs to start e-commerce exports,” he stated.

With the help of the e-commerce platform, which offered logistics support and access to more than 200 million Amazon Prime members worldwide, thousands of small exporters who previously had no access to international markets have witnessed a 70% yearly rise in their business, he claimed.

This occurs during the first seven months of this fiscal year, when India’s goods exports fell 7% year over year.

The e-commerce platform’s most rapidly growing categories were kitchen, furniture, toys, home, beauty, and clothes.

Sales of Indian products were being driven by holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas, and New Year’s in countries including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and Germany.

According to Wakankar, in an effort to boost exporters, Amazon reduced the first three months’ subscription fees for exporters who signed up before March 31 from $120 to $1 for its global selling program.
