As part of Steam Next Fest, you can try hundreds of video game demos for free on Steam. The event, which takes place from June 19 to June 26, is indeed “a celebration of upcoming games,” as described by Valve.
The sheer number of demos available can be overwhelming, but it is well worth looking through the lists. There is no limit to the number of games you can install and play, so you’re bound to find something that piques your interest. We’ve compiled a list of 13 games that we’re looking forward to, but it’s not even close to covering all of the promising titles in the most recent Steam Next Fest.
Venba is a narrative cooking game from Visai Games that takes place in the 1980s and follows an Indian mother who moves to Canada with her family. Cooking puzzles are the game’s focus, and solving them will reveal a “story about family, love, and loss.” The release of Venba is scheduled for July 31.
Spirit Swap, developed by Soft Not Weak, The puzzle game Lofi Beats to Match-3 To has a queer, witchy twist. The story is centered on match-three gameplay and low-fidelity music. The video game Goodbye Volcano High by KO_OP just won the prize at the 2023 Tribeca Festival, and its demo is now available on Steam Next Fest. Pacific Drive is a high-energy survival adventure game in which your customizable station wagon is your most important weapon. Pacific Drive is a ride out of a dangerous world that you’ll have to scavenge and explore in order to survive, developed by Ironwood Studios. It’s normal out in 2023.
Laika is described by developer Brainwash Gang as: Aged Through Blood is described as a “post-apocalyptic wasteland-set western-inspired motovania.” To that I say: Yes! A “mother coyote warrior” riding a motorcycle and embarking on an “endless path of vengeance to take back what her people lost” is depicted in the stunning stylized world. Laika: Aged Through Blood is slated for release shortly.
4X games are renowned for their length, allowing players to play for hours or even days or weeks. That is perfect and all, yet here and there a contained encounter is great. Stellaris Nexus, a 4X game, helps with that. Condensing everything you love about 4X games into a short, pointed, and almost board game-like experience, the sci-fi strategy game is meant to be played in an hour. Currently, no release date has been set.
Sticky Business is for you if you’ve ever wanted to build a creative small business. The sticker-making business sim from Spellgarden Games is a cute and cozy game. As you run a cute little shop, you’ll design, sell, and pack orders. In 2023, Sticky Business is expected to come out.
Saltsea Chronicles by Die Gute Fabrik, from the author of Mutazione, takes place on the high seas in a “post-flood world.” As you travel through ancient world ruins, there is a lot to see and many people to meet on the saltsea. There are also cats! In 2023, Saltsea Chronicles will be released.
AdHoc Studio and developer Richard Hofmeier collaborated to bring Cart Life back. The well-known game was taken off the shelves years ago, but it has come back, first as a demo at Steam Next Fest, so players can once more experience the lives of three street vendors. Might and Magic: Conflict of Legends – Authoritative Release has everything: elements of a role-playing, puzzle, and strategy game. The game was first released by Capybara Games in 2009.
